Josh Margolis - Producer/Engineer/Musician
Josh Margolis began playing drums at the age of five under the tutelage of session drummer Kenny Aronoff in the family living room. Ten years of both drum and piano lessons followed. He went on to study percussion with Mino Cinelu and Kenwood Dennard. He has been performing in rock, jazz, and acoustic groups in new york city for the past fifteen years as a drummer, singer and multi-instrumentalist.
He began producing in 1993 at Tree-house Recording Studios working predominately with singer/songwriters and composing
music extensively for television: A&E Biography, the Travel Channel, and the Learning Channel. In 1999, Josh co-founded Steamroom Studio in Greenwich Village with brazilian musician, Tomas Marsh. He has composed, performed and produced music for Martha Stewart Living Television, ABC News: Documentary with Peter Jennings, public service announcements for MTV, and scored several independent films. Josh went on to team up with urban music producer, Vince Schimel, and opened John Street Productions, a digital recording facility running both Pro-Tools and Digital Performer. Currently, he is working out of Millrose Music.
Josh has had the great pleasure of working with Tracey Bonham, Cy Curnin of the Fixx, Joe Cocker, Joy Askew, Richie Havens, Freedy Johnston, Danielle Howie, and Barbara Gogan. His songwriting skills have been recognized by Billboard
Magazine and the New York Songwriter's Circle.
